We are moving home on Wednesday. You have no idea how long I have been waiting to say that. I was talking with my cousin earlier tonight and she asked me if I was ready and I responded by saying, "I don't know". She said, "Emotionally ready, but physically not?" and my response was, "actually quite the opposite".
This feels odd to say, but I am very emotional about moving home, not in a bad way, just emotional. How will it feel? Will I remember which switches are which? How long will it take to get back into our routine and feel like it is home again? Will it be strange to wake up on Thursday morning, see the sun rise outside our bedroom windows, as if nothing happened. I am sure this concept is hard to understand, as it is to try and explain. I literally feel like we have been living in the twilight zone for the past 6.5 months. Again, hard to explain. Sadly, if I think about it, I can immediately mentally and emotionally put myself back to 6:30 pm on July 22nd 2012. The fear, the confusion, and rush of instincts kicking in- knowing what had to be done in that exact moment. It is almost as if I can re-live those moments and feel the air, the time and everything else around me. I remember almost every detail and every conversation of that night and I know it will fade, but situations like this that change the fabric of who you are can leave a lasting mark.
The house looks amazing and I must say, I am beyond thrilled with the upgrades we have made. We have enhanced the spaces we live in the most. I said in my first post when this happened that I was committed to making some lemonade out of the lemons we were given and I have to say, it is sweet!
Once we get home and get a little settled, I plan on posting before, during and after pictures! We will be VERY busy this week and it will fly by---Enjoy yours!

So much happening!
The house is coming together so amazingly!!! This is when it is really getting inspiring to see months of selections in real life. I squealed liked a child when the I walked in and the lights were on. It made our house start to feel like a home again :)
There is more to come and I will post pics over the next 3 weeks as we countdown to moving home. Here is what happened, all today!
Excitement continues...

Light it Up!
Super exciting things happened this past week and many more exciting this happening this week coming up!!! For one, the floors got finished and I LOVE the color! We went slightly darker than what they were before and it looks great. Most of the lights went up and will be completed early this week (pictures below), the marble counter top in the master bath was put in and the back splash in the kitchen was installed. This was by far the hardest thing we picked out in the house. It was a tough decision because in essence our cabinets are the same but the granite is slightly different and the overall colors we went with in the house are different also. Long story short, this one kept me up many nights! I am so pleased with the outcome and can't wait to see the kitchen once the appliances go in.
Let's just say, I am getting REALLY excited to move home! Moving home will be awesome :)
Next week on the agenda--faucets, sinks and final paint. More pics to come--We are getting there!

Reflection
If you would have told me at the beginning of 2012 how our life was going to be turned upside down this year I don't know if I would have believed you. This past year has been cut up into two different times, BF(Before Fire) and AF (After Fire). I have to admit, immediately after the fire I had some, "why did this happen to us?" and "who did we piss off in the world?" type of moments. I am happy to say now that the words I will use to look back on 2012 absolutely include blessed, thankful, gracious and positive.
Not only did this situation change our physical surroundings, but it has changed the fabric of who I am. I have never started a year like 2013--truly understanding the meaning of life is too short. I have used that phrase before, but never, ever have I really lived that way. I have also realized how wonderful our family is and have learned who are true friends are. I also can say my faith in God has been renewed. I have always been a little bit of a natural skeptic in everything I do. This experience has taught me the power behind having faith in something you can not see or touch and the comfort in being able to feel like everything is going to be okay and this is just a moment in time. I know this might sound strange, but I needed this to happen--I needed this perspective. I am beyond excited to see what 2013 holds and or course, can't wait to move home :)
As for the house, we are in the home stretch. The finishing touches are being done before the hard wood floors are sanded and stained. We should see many pretty things in the few weeks!
Happy New Year everyone!
